    2nd Engineer <3000KW Oral Exam
    18/11/19 @ 1100. Duration 75mins approx (Questions not in correct order)

    1. Tell me about your last ship (Ship operation, engines, bore and stroke)
    2. How can you tell the health of your engines – parameter check, trend analysis, performance check, excess vibration or noise, leaks etc
    3. High exhaust gas temp’s on one unit – reasons and actions?
    4. Draw a fuel injector and explain how is works
    5. What pressure does fuel get injected into the cylinder – approx. 250 bar
    6. Fuel injector inspection – spring, needle valve seat, nozzle wear and atomisation holes
    7. Draw a power and draw card
    8. How to measure mean effective pressure and indicated power
    9. 4 stroke unit overhaul full procedure (asked me to stop once I had removed gudgeon pin)
    10. Checks on liner

    12. Would you replace the full set of piston rings?
