Asked about past experience, present rank and govt ID., He said my colleague is also online for training and quality purpose.you don’t have to worry about him.
He said r u in a close room with lock doors i said yes.
My questions below whatever I recalled ,not in exact order
●you have 30 minutes since the present master sign off and you boarded the vessel , how will you go through it.
◆you have one new second mate joined he’s very new to company and on Lpg carrier carrying propane cargo. What you will do.
●whats your expectations from him.
●your ecdis not showing H symbol, what you will do, if no H symbol what will appear on screen (he asked many times this question tried answer him but don’t know what he’s looking for)
● how will you know your ecdis is approved,
●what is draft survey , how to calculate, what is the use of draft survey.
●difference between azimuth and amplitude, what all heavenly bodies it applies, how to calculate ,
●synoptic chart , weather full details
●how autopilot works, how autopilot knows what course to stear.
●bosun was safety rep got injured with an accident , now no one wants to became safety rep, what will be your actions.
●radar , how will you stabilize radar in absense of GPS, how it done when GPS was not invented.
●shown slide with with magnetic compass,asked what care maintenance you will carry out, how to correct deviation.
●shown radar screen (what you can see in this ) what’s wrong .
●2 slides he shown me tug and tow , he asked these are forward mast light 3 in a row which one is normal mast light top or bottom .
●PDV crossing stbd to port , what action, why , which rule, after action what you will do ,what else.
●NUC coming down from 45 degree port action, can you go to port
●which rule says fishing vessel should not extend fishing gear in TSS.
Will you overtake this vessel , overtake or not.

●he shown one square tilted 45 degree, I asked is it a diamond he said yes, what is this for.
●your second mate call you he said he didn’t sound 1 short blast alter to stbd, why he did so what you think.
●narrow channel ahead one vessel stbd side, how will you overtake , if he not agree what you will do , all sounds signals he asked.

●he shown many flags around 7 including combined flags , I was able to ans 4 ..
Many more questions which I may recall slowly, I hope this will help other candidates I haven’t worked on autopilot and radar, and steering gear

He said you were very very close ,but this is not enough as a master you need to know how to stabilize radar without gps, flags distress ,steering gear radar , and autopilot.
He was definitely not in a mood to pass .
