    The questions sequence are same as how he asked me , some might be up and down.
    1) Your chief officer how will you make sure your department jobs are done properly (answer should be in management level answer).
    2) While joining ship what all you will see on ship side.
    3) What you look for in load line.
    4) As a master why load line so important.
    5) Load line certificate survey and validity.
    6) Marpol discharging criteria.
    7) What is EAS and ACS.
    8) 3/O call master that one fishing boat collied on port side what will u do as master and as chief officer what you will do and what all your main concerns.
    9) Fisher man injured as master what all u will do.
    10) Fishing incident at sea which all medical parties you can contact ( ok TMAS and company Doctor and who all are left to whom u can contact)
    11) Then all of sudden came with ROR cards showed me :
    • Port later mark
    • Isolated danger buoy.
    • South cardinal buoy.
    • Special buoy.
    • Emergency wreck buoy.

    When I said emergency wreck buoy he said such buoy don’t exist , it is called destruction buoy , so I told him sir you can check NP 735 it’s a ukho publication there was a small argument , I taught he was just trying to check me , but seriously he was not aware abouts its real name .
    then he asked me since when this came buoy came then I told the story of dover strait incident, m still sure he was not aware abt this buoy.
    • So this Emrg wrk buoy whatever u call , can we replace this buoy with some other buoy then I said yes isolated buoy ,
    Andddd Virtual bouy , andddd cardinal buoy …anddd
    Then I said by navtex and nav wrg, chat correction and all nooo what buoy can replace this destruction buoy I said now I don’t know … then he said u can put lateral marks. I was surprised.

    Then she showed me the cards:

    • NUC stopped
    • FV with gear > 150 m from port side
    • Mine crls vsl at anchor

    12) As chief officer what all documents required to load a cargo.
    13) What you will check before loading heavy lift cargo.
    14) As a chief officer what you will consider about your ship before loading cargo till arrival to next port (wants everything)

    22) Duty AB reported there is Leak from a container and one crew got burn due to its contact action as Master, and action as chief office (basically he wanted to hear the use of IMDG vol 2 and supplement and Master medical book )
    23) Ok tell me the content of UK Legislations “carriage of cargo at sea” ( https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1999/336/contents/made).
    I said are u asking about SOLAS CH 6 , he said no its book I need the content , okk aft a while I said sir I don’t know then he said its in your syllabus and in the beginning of when your orals started I said I will ask from ur chief mate syllabus and you said you prepared and now you said you don’t know about “Uk Legislations” so that means you are not prepared today for your orals.
    I said sorry sir, but our syllabus is never ending I might missed this topic please forgive me ill try to read about this later .)
    I taught now he might change the question but next 6 more questions he asked me about same publication.
    • Cargo carriage documentation.
    • Details to carry grain code
    • Is MSDS requirement maintain in this book
    • How will u accept any cargo before loading.
    • And some more I bluffed some answers which went right.

    24) Now fire in galley how will u fight as chief officer he wants everything.
    25) What is critical equipment’s on ship, how u will know abt it.
    26) What are the ISPS security levels, wht is SSP
    27) As a Chief how will u make sure your SMS is being followed on ship.
    28) Master is busy cook and young person join ship what you will do as chief
    29) Rest hours for young person
    30) How you will give jobs to young person.
    31) Showed me RADAR where ship position was near to land, he said what is wrong in this picture ( it was GPS fail u can see the GPS 1 and ship position both re different ) .
    32) So, what all inputs for RADAR.
    33) RADAR plot question: one blip “ O” exactly 8 mines a head and arpa not working ship heading 000* and 12 mile chart ship vector showing around 4 ‘.
    I said pls continue plot he said this is the plot , then I said I cant say as per rule 7: cant say as per scanty information then he plotted “OA” 3 min interval there is no “w” as per my vector I can understand mine ship speed is more and we both are doing same course .( we are overtaking ship and other ship right a head)

    >> I said this is PDV as per rule 15 and rule 17 I’ll give 5 shot blast still no action 1- shot blast and broad alter to STB side.
    He said can you got to port I said no this is PDV ,rule 15 and its 1.5 mile I have plenty sea room to take action .
    Then again he waited for 2-3 mints for my action, now I said sir if u still insist , if I have no other action left and unbale to go to std due to some reason then yes port is an option to go as per rule 17 (b) best action to avoid collusion and rule 2(b) but still my action Is broad alt to stb and keep clr .
    Then is end the exam

    I failed: for cargo part “ Uk Legislations “ carriage of cargo not know and Last question I took action on port side .

    He said cargo was okk but as COLREG u made mistake i can’t do anything, I really got angry and I said sir can you please check the video you recorded.
    I said my final answer is STB not port, he said u said port now you cannot argue with me .

    He is a new surveyor, will try to show that he is very friendly and an expert,
    All the questions he asked me never made me to complete , when he get the key points then he will suddenly change the questions.

    Suddenly I am chief doing cargo and suddenly will as ROR then again m Master will be asking abt Management question.

    From his act I can clearly understand he was just trying to impress the main surveyor who was online.
    Mine last question he purposely made me to say port.
