• Surveyor came 10 mins before schedule time. We had conversation on my past OOW schooling. Past vessel experience and trading areas. Room inspection done. Asked if I am recording anything? And he will be recording as per MCA guidelines. Advised, anytime during examination if there is any emergency I can evacuate the room.
• He said I am putting you as master on a UK FLAG Vessel.
• Asked about previous ships.(Trade, passage plan, weather condition )
• How about the stresses in heavy weather and what action as Master when loaded Iron ore?
• Heavy weather deviated course? Why?
• ISM – Masters’ responsibilities and overriding authority
• Where you can get informations about Masters overriding authority apart from SOLAS AND ISM?
• Apart from High permeability and Flooding what cause water entering the cargo hold?
(MC and TML).

• Have you ever experienced any emergencies?
• Any MAIB reports?
• What is EASS?
• Certificate issued by MCA apart from EASS? (DOC) But he said some more certificates been still issued by MCA?
• As a Master how will you prepare drills onboard? (MGN 71 + Decision Support System)
• Now prior to you lifeboat drill, the fwd falls parted? Your actions?
• Whom your will inform?
• What is Salvage and Towage? (Standard answer)
• Explain SCOPIC?
• How will your Standing orders to your OOW for near RV or RV?
• Masters’ responsibilities regarding drills where would you find out information?
• SAR – where to find out about search patterns etc.

No further question. Surveyor is looking for my practical approach on my answers. Even though questions been answered he said that the answers where unable to demonstrate to Masters level.
And then he said how do you feel the exam was? I didn’t reply for that.
Then he said you didn’t pass as you have not reached the criteria. You will shortly receive an Email regarding your answers. Then he Logged off.
