Online, 1.5 hours.
He didn’t have my copy of discharge book so hadn’t had a look. Also didn’t ask about previous experience. Did mention it to him through answers though.
Asked about stat certificates. List them. Renewal time frames.
Asked some details about them, supplements, to certificates. Pushed for more when I didn’t provide. Lasted quite a while on this with my pauses and forgetting which certificates were involved where.
For IOPP wanted details about ORB, OWS, tanks,
IAPP-whats included, what would surveyor want to see.
How often to dry dock. In water survey details, how to apply for IWS.
Before dry dock, not about months in advance just from lay up berth. Plans for power supply and what will be shut down.
Details about power requirements, how to know what we will need and what can be provided. Sort of power that can be provided.
Dry dock connections, international shore connection and power cables and possibly sea water connections.
What to look for before, during and after flooding up. What to consider. Crank shaft deflections before and after.
Also discussed what to do with crankshaft deflections. Wanted to know how we as Chief would analyse them. Wasn’t impressed with my answers wanted more. I only considered marking the results on the provided graph and comparing to previous results and deciding on things from there but wanted more. Also mentioned liner wear down here and what to do with the results.
Ship side markings. Including draft markings and where you would see them. (Draught markings to be 100mm high, letter thickness to be 20mm)
Asked a little bit about 2 stroke experience, asked about bottom end bolts and how often checked. Asked about fretting, happy with my answer so then asked about brittle fracture.
Passed. Examiner was fantastic, very understanding and helped eek out answers. Gave feedback for areas of improvement as well.
