Examiner – Capt. Kaiser Ali
Date – 07/02/2023
Experience – OIL TANKER
Result – Pass
Time – 01 hr 50 minHe introduced himself, told me that from 6th Feb, 2023, the MCA now permit them to record the exams only if the candidate permits. I granted him permission, so he recorded the session. He Explained the reason for the recording and how it can and may be used. Will be deleted after 30 days. Also explained the usual procedures (Code of Conduct) and we started the exam. Also had a check on the room, checked passport.
Tell me about your last ship. Load port, trade route, nationalities of officers and crew. He said I would be on VLCC vessel unless otherwise told by him.
ISM
➢ How was ISM incorporated into Internationally.
➢ What Certificate related to ISM will you find onboard
➢ How is SMC certificate applied.
➢ Validity of both certificate & audit?
➢ What is the inspection schedule of SMC.
➢ Who carries out the annual and intermediate inspection of SMC.
➢ Master responsibilities and authorities? (PMCVR)
➢ Functional requirements of ISM (SCOREM)ISPS
➢ What is DoS?
➢ What are the contents of DOS (I ONLY KNEW FEW OF THEM BUT I TOLD THERE ARE TOTAL 10 POINTS WILL REFER TO MY COMPANY FORM F.ISPS11)
➢ When will you exchange DoS? (HE WANTS TO HEAR ALL THE POINTS)MLC
➢ Tell me all certificates you will have with regards to MLC and validity
➢ Who will sign DMLC 2

➢ This was very detailed as per Master what will you look for and various requirements, I took almost 12 min or more but he wasn’t happy with the answer, he said you are missing a very important point, he gave me some time to think, I added few more points to it, but he wanted to hear something else, I wasn’t sure what he was looking for, he asked me during initial management meeting whom did u call – this was it – I understood I said I will definitely call chief cook and ask him the food requirement for the voyage.
➢ During feedback he said as a master you were only interested in regulations and paper work what about the food. How can you start the voyage with out food and water.➢ Gale force warning in south China sea, action.
➢ Now vessel in north Atlantic ocean 2nd off reports weather is getting bad, wind is veering action – (ALL ABOUT TRS DSC….)

Dry dock :
• Tell me all about safety precautions that u will take in dry dock
• What is dangerous places, how will you start your daily work.

You are arriving a berth total of 3 tugs are available ready for you. Vessel is VLCC
How you will make fast the tugs, and what all precautions will you take. He needs answer as per master again he said me.Talky Talky Rules

For this section, I want you to answer in the following format:
➢ Identify the target (Length, Aspect)
➢ Status (Underway, possibly making way, definitely making way, Stopped)
➢ Day Shape
➢ Fog Signal➢ Tell me the Fog signal for a vessel aground. Less than 100 m and more than 100 m What additional whistle signal can they give.
➢ Flags for trawler – Net fast obstruction, Shooting nets, hauling nets, Pair trawling.
➢ RAM on your port side, you are CBD/ Action / Under what rule
➢ Sailing vessel on port side you are on PDV/ day signal if propelled by machinery
There were few more I don’t recollect now,
Examiner: HE THAN SAID THIS WAS IT , WE HAVE COMPLETED AND YOU ARE PASS. CONGRATS.
Capt. Kaiser is a fair examiner and really patient, he needs answer in bullet format unless he tells you to explain.
He can also rephrase his question if it is not clear
I wish to thank GMA team and my group discussion mates Prashant kadam, Dilip, and Thakur.
ROR almost all the situation was from the e – sailor, so make sure you go through it again and again.
I had memorised most of the numbers related to MGN/MSN/SI of all the important topics, that helped a bit.
Some of the question asked I may have missed here in the oral report.Hope this is helpful.
