    Said he wanted straight forward answers and will ask for, if he wants any details.

    (Both of them were very open ended questions, I took my time answering them, forgot to mention checking mooring conditions, but he helped me a bit)
    What will happen when your GPS fails?
    What is a DR?
    Difference between EP and DR?
    NAVTEX and Mandatory messages?
    You have calculated 3°W Compass Error, the variation is 3°W, what is your deviation?
    You saw a pressure drop of 5mb on your Barometer, Actions?
    When will you call the master?
    SOPEP tell me about it?
    Where will you find info regarding LSA FFA equipment’s on your ship?
    What is Automatic Track Control and Autopilot, Differences?

    (Gents take your time in answering the questions, While answering one preferred channel buoys I mistakenly gave a wrong answer, but then corrected it just a second later, he said buoys are bread and butter for OOW’s)

    SITUATIONS
    PDV Head-on port bow.
    Therefore PDV Crossing from port side
    Overtaking another vessel
    Vessel overtaking me Stbd. quarter, ROC exists
    (I made a mistake a here and said that overtaking vessel is give way and vessel being overtaken is stand on, following which we had a detailed discussion on why that is not the case)
    Crossing ahead from starboard, ROC exists
    VEIF port side
    VEIF port side in TSS

    He ended the exam here, and asked me how I think I had performed, I said I will have to work more on my rules and sextant next time to which he said laughing that I had Passed though he wants me to get back to sea sooner than later.

    Mr. Roe is a very fair examiner and helpful examiner as he gives you time to calm down, repeats the questions when you ask him to and allows you to take your time with answers)
