    Surveyor: Column Leggit
    Result : Pass
    Surveyor introduce me himself and asked my introduction, Type of vessel I sailed on, How much sea time as a
    second mate, SQA result and what all modular courses I completed.
    Following question were asked during oral exam.
    1. Types of chemical tanker and definition.
    2. Category of Annex 2 cargo.
    3. How will you join your last vessel as a chief officer in detail?
    4. What all certificate your last vessel carried.
    5. Prepare the vessel for safety equipment survey.
    6. Prepare the vessel for MLC audit.
    7. You are carrying annex I cargo, how you will carry out the tank cleaning.
    8. How you will clean the manifold and cargo line and how will you make sure the line is clean — I answered him as
    per my practical experience.
    9. Which manual you will refer for tank cleaning on chemical tanker —- P&A manual
    First I didn’t understand question so I told him that in my company we had shell tank cleaning matrix which we
    used to follow then he again asked the question in different way.
    10. Preparation for tank entry in detail. Enclosed entry procedures.
    11. Flammability diagram explanation.
    12. Departure preparation as a chief mate. Sox limit in ECA area.
    13. Role of MAIB.
    14. How you will carry out drill onboard the ship.
    15. What is PSC and it’s role.
    16. What all entries to be made in official log book.
    17. Duties of chief officer.
    18. Name classification society approved by the MCA.
    20. Vessel is in port and fire in engine room, action as a chief mate.
