    Ask me to show the ID and verified by my date of Birth. Started with my last vessel experience,
    Voyage, this were the general questions. Then he told me about the rules and regulations and the
    emergencies during the exam. He was talking nicely and making me very comfortable at the beginning
    of the exams.
    1. Agent drop you in jetty tell me joining procedure?
    2. Now you have already takenover what all certificates will you check satutory certificates? (He
    was keep ticking in a list as I have given my answers).
    3. What is CSR? What is the validity? When does it change?
    4. Tell me everything about ACS?
    5. Is there anything same like ACS? (EAS) Tell me about EAS?
    6. What is the difference between ACS & EAS? (I have answered EAS is only for SELECTED
    ships)
    7. Tell me under ISM what all certificates you expected to have? validity and survey? (ISM DOCCompany
    copy & SMC for ship)
    8. What are the ISM findings a surveyor can give you? and ask me to explain observation, NC
    Major Non-Conformity?
    9. You are in a voyage from Singapore to Durban tell me how will you plan? (I have included
    voyage plan RA, used key words so he stopped as I was explaning what I will expected 2/off to
    do)
    10. What weather expect you to have in passage in the month of August for this voyage?
    11. TRS in NH hemisphere, what action will you take when you are in the DQ and how will you
    pass?

    13. After TRS forward part cargo shifted & light damage to vessel action? (Muster, RA, assess the
    damage safely, keep safe speed & course, if not safe for vessel then head to port of refuge)
    14. Now 2/Off inform you X band Radar not working what is your action? (Used key words, RA,
    SART detection, Coastal water navigation & ask for despensation)
    15. You are on Bulk carrier & expect to have PSC, what all inspections they can do? what
    document they will check additionally? (Initial, detail or expanded inspections) (ESP Report
    file)
    16. Your vessel age exceed how many years to have expanded inspections? (12 Years)
    17. You are returning back to ship from shore leave and noticing vessel is working with 4 shore
    gantries and vessel heavily listed to one side action? (I mentioned about stop cargo operations,
    use of anti heeling system to rectify the issue temporarily) & issuing letter of protest he was ok
    with the answer (I forgot to tell the action I would take against onboard officeres- but im not
    sure about this- please check answer for this)
    18. What is the use of onboard antiheeling syatem? How much will you set for operation? ( my
    answer from own experience and I normally set 2 degrees in auto mode)
    19. Tell me about Marpol Annex 1, what is the requirement? ( IOPP certificate, Oil record book,
    discharge control measures)
    20. SOx comes under which Annex? (Annex VI) what is the Requirement? (Lessthan 0.1%, 0.5%)
    21. Young cadet joining tell me about his rest hours?
    22. Youdeparted port and AB reported sluggish steering action? (Squat, explain squat, reduce speed
    to prevent it)
    23. Now you are in port Chief officer report you IMDG Cargo leaking on deck action? (Key words-
    General Alarm & muster crew head count, stevedores to leave the vessel until cleanup, check
    with container No Dg class, un no check in IMDG suplliment in spillage guide for cleanup
    proceedure, if danger to breath, send person with SCBA, report all parties)
    24. You are arriving the port at 0300 Hrs. what master Night orders will you write for your OOW?
    25. Now you need to proceed to deep water anchor, tell me how will you proceed? (RA, depth less
    than 80% on windlass of 3 shackle + anchor, lower anchor walk back only)
    26. 2Off inform you magnetic compass incorrect reading/ You are on a westerly course for 2 weeks
    action?
    27. Showed me a flamable diagram and asked me to explain?

    Nearly all the ROR day situations he has done with me (all are day situations, Animated like 3D vessel
    clear images)

    8. FV > 150m on fine stbd bow, RAM crossing from port to stbd.
    Light identifications ( only one vessel he asked fog signals)

    3. tug and tow RAM at the port side crossing.
    4. Trawler underway stopped
    5. Aground port (Including fog signal)
    6. Ram and tow extending 200 mtrs port
    RV One single dot? I said commence plotting, I need three plots Then he put three dots and asked how
    will you get the W, I told him the procedure for the same. He did by him self.
    1. Stbd bow action? ( target 3NM distace, He expect you to altered to STBD)
    2. One at stbd bow just above the stbd beam (070′ x 3NM)ROC other at port bow ROC action? (He
    expect you altered to STBD) (He mentioned even 1 degree fwd of beam still fwd of beam)
    3. One at the stbd quarter? What will be the action of the stbd quarter vessel (AC to Port)
    Buoyage Light/rhythm/action
    1. Safe water mark
    2. Isolated danger mark 3.
    3.West cardinal 180
    4. Emergency Wreck Bouy
    5. Region A preferd channel to STBD inbound.
    Surveyor – Muhammed Iqbal us a very good and supportive person. He do not listen to your answer
    fully. Once he get the key words of the answers he will move to next questions. So try to put your key
    words at the beginning of your answers it will give him a good impression on you.
    Be thraw with ROR as he ask more questions on them. If you dont undertand question ask him again he
    will repeat is as you required. I was feeling very comfortable with his questions.
