Online exam/ Glasgow
Examiner: AnamLogged on 15 mins early and with about 10 mins to go the examiner was there welcoming me. Interested in where I was taking the exam from being different to my address or vessel. Talked through the formalities and turned my computer around to view the room, confirmed I was using the app and neither of us were recording. No issues. Could take my jacket off and have water right there. He was very calm and I was at ease quite quickly.
-Tell me about your last boat.
-How many guests could you carry and why.
-Asked about COVID precautions on board. I haven’t been employed during it, but I know management companies have their procedures so steered it that direction.
-Pulled up a photo of an Azimuth circle, asked if I had ever used one. What’s it for?
-Safety induction, mentioned it was a SMS checklist

-What other LSA do you have? Stopped after a few.
-HRU, tell me about it. Wanted to know if he could make his own. Looking for SOLAS approved.

-Movement of G over an ocean passage. Stiff and tender vessels.
-What happens with slack tanks. Gave a full description. What’s it called tho

-SEA and its contents

-Fire doors purpose and operation. Checked at drills as per the PMS.
-Guests producing rubbish on board, can it go over the side? Annex 5.
-Passage Plan, APEM description.
-Appraisal list. Got to plan and he came back to the publications required
-Pulled up an image of bottom left of the chart and asked me what it was about left to right. Then talked through updating it.

-Actions entering Res Vis
-Lights, asking for what it was, day signal (which I heard as fog signal) and fog signal. Would tell me where it was and wanted my action. PDV, NUC, RAM Tow +200m (I had to be prompted for ball diamond ball), VEIF, Vessel aground +100m. Obligation to a CBD.
-Flicking through slides looking for one more he said. I looked at the time 59mins. Ended up asking me what the responsibility between a PDV and SV were and the sound signal.
Short and sweet and such a relief. It was easy in comparison to the last few months. I had pretty tight answers, nothing got me by suprise. Had my life on pause but it paid off being fully immersed.
Big thank you to every one I prepped with: Barry and Fred for their content. Fred and Emma for their webinars, always keeping me in check. And doing mocks with Whitehorse and Barry. All invaluable!
