    Mr Iqbal used to work in Aberdeen and we had a talk about Orkney Ferries to help put me at ease. It was very nice of him to do this and very much appreciated by me.

    1. You pass this exam and are joining as Master, what would you do?
    2. Loadlines and the C loadlines on ships? What vessels have C marks? Can you have more than one set of C marks?
    3. Draw the loadlines marks on your vessel
    4. You’ve joined the ship and you are sailing from Kirkwall to Southampton. What would you do and what are your considerations?
    5. Heavy weather is approaching, what would you do?
    6. Signs that you are in the middle of a storm
    7. You continue on your passage and you get called to the bridge after the ship hits a fishing boat, what would you do?
    8. What is you responsibilities to the Fishing boat? What would you do?
    9. You’ve discovered a hole in the Fore Peak due to this incident, what would you do? How would you proceed?
    10. You proceed to dry dock, what are you going to do?
    11. Can you go into dry dock with a head trim?
    12. The Lloyds surveyor wants to enter the Fore Peak, how would you go about that?
    13. You get repaired and are about to leave the dry dock, what do needs to be done?
    14. While ballasting the vessel starts to lean over, what could be the cause of that?
    15. What would you do to resolve it?

    27. How do make sure risk of collision exists?
    28. ROR: Fishing Vessel on Port Side (TSS), PDV on Port Bow, RAM on Port Bow, PDV on Stbd Side (TSS)
    29. Lights and shapes: RAM towing (3 white lights in a row and RAM on for’d mast) can see Stbd side lights, Tow (Poss. over 50 & over 200m (1 and 3 lights) stbd side lights, Sailing vessel, Aground. What would you do?
