Experience: Bulk carrier and Dredgers.
Introduced himself and explained cheating policy and asked to see around the room, and also to verify that I did not have any other pages open on my laptop. Also asked what type of laptop I was using and to hold my passport up for him to check. Asked me i am familiar with MGN 69. Also asked what type of vessel i have worked on and as i am going for Master Unlimited i can be put on any of the vessel.

1. Joining as a master, Recived a call from office how will you go about it/ Now what are the contents of OLB and what entries you make in the narrative section.
( Office induction and normal Standard Answer)
2. In way between receiving call and joining ship what your company normally carry out.(Call to Hongkong office and meet with all the departments DPS/ CSO/ SUPT./ COMMERCIAL DEPT)
3. How will they brief you seperatly.(All dept. i will check thier profile related aspects)
4. As you Join Echosounder not working and company want you to sail out. Which certificate will be effected(I will step down and will not sail for safety of PEP/ SEQ cert.)
5. Now company got dispensation and qant you to sail out as no tech. available in short notice.( Still i will not sail as it will be running blind in shallow waters.)
6.Now back to offie u were told new ECDIS is bieng installed how will yu go about it how do you know it is pproved and what other things you will keep in mind.
(OEM approval cert and crew training.)
Quite a time spent here regarding what are the ECDIS carriage requireents. what are the mandatry feeds given to ECDIS.
7. Now you have been started sailing from Liverpool to Newyork on steady course what will happen to compass.(Retentive error/ how it occur/ how it is detected)
8. On the same course What an how magnetic property of the vessel changed due to retentive error.(initilly was confused and then asked him whether he hants how RED and BLUE pole are created on the ship the made a 2D diagram of vessel and painted red blue pole and showed him -Q/ +R)
9. Now on the same course you are going to experience heavy weather how will you go about it.(Heavy WX preps)
10. Now in weather what will you do (Heave to and ride the storm/ Note protest)
11. Now Engine failed what will yo do(Inform company arrange for tug and salvage.)
12. One vessel seen on radar and you see its a tug, which book on bridge will tell you it is a tug.(ITU publication)
13. Now vessel did not offer towage but offering salvage and how ill you agree on it.(As a agent of neccesaity i will enter into the salvage and agree on VHF)
14. Why tug has offered salvage not towage. (Difference between salvage and towage, and more of salvage will pay more money to salvor as the vessel is intact an will get higher TPB and NO CURE NO PAY)
15. Now Resumed the voyage and recived a distress signal on VHF and D/O called you he noted down the headings.(Proceed for SAR, Action as per IAMSAR then asked me to draw the SECTOR search pattern.)
16. How will you lower your rescue boat.(Standard ans and carried out a dry run for my crew safety)
17. Now passage resumed at 0200 hrs DO called and told expercing the RV what do you expect him to carry out before arrival.(Standard ans as per Heavy weather checklist.)
18. Now while DB inspection C/O found cracks in the web frame how will you go about it.( Repair it as early as possible if i have welder wil LR certificate and he is competent enough to carry out the job will start welding so that crack dont progress, also take all enclosed space precautions and if smoke starts to build i will evacuate and make it gas free again and complete the work and also Inform class)
19. Now on place of safety you are imposed with condition of class what are its contents.(location/ time frame to complete the repairs.)
20. Safety meeting and requirements(Coswp/ basically safety officer duties.)BB.
Now Showed the RADAR SCREEN asked me to identify the motion and ROC and action for all targets.RV RELATIVE VECTOR AS OWN VESSEL DIDNOT HAVE THE VETOR.
TARGET 1: Port bow ROC
TARGET 2: Stbd bow ROC
TARGET 3: Stbd beam No ROC
TARGET 4: Port Qtr NO ROCTold him initially slow down get the stbd beam vessel clear and A/C to STBD.

CBD seen from stbd side.(Asked you are give way or stand on/ I told him as per rule 18 and 8f i shall not impede his passage)After a pause he said ok Mr. Shantesh Sharma i have completed my exams and said the most phenominal words that you are passed. Then he told me the general procedure for applying coc and Logged off. Literally i jumped out of chair. I relaised The surveyor was actually looking for basic knowledge of the subject not the memorised answers.
I thank all my family to bear me for such time at home studing and Special thanks to Capt. Vinil Gupta and Capt. Shayne for the oral preps and notes. (Specially the Panapto videos/ Youtube videos and Colreg.net. helped a lot to revise).
