Asked me to walk around room with the laptop camera facing away to ensure nobody else
was in the room and no notes were posted anywhere before starting.

    Rules of the Road
    1. What is restricted visibility? What is the definition?
    2. Preparations to make on approaching restricted visibility?
A radar plot was then shown on screen…
I was advised that the furthest away echo on each target had
appeared first and the closest echo on each target appeared last. I
was then asked to replicate the echoes on the radar plotting sheet
previously received in an e-mail, then determine if risk of collision
exists and what would be the action.
CPA was zero for both targets, but although my heading was given (North) my speed was
not, so could not complete the plot by accurately placing ‘W’. After asking the examiner for
my speed, was advised that own speed was the equivalent to the same two range rings for
    the equal period of time.
After placing ‘W’ on both targets, could then determine the forward target was crossing
and the target astern was overtaking.
    3. ACTION? (Make a bold alteration of course to starboard).
    4. Would you make any sound signals? Why Not?
ROR Situations (Own vessel always at bottom of screen and a PDV)
    1. PDV on stbd side.
    2. Overtaking a PDV.
    3. NUC vessel on port side.
    4. Who else should a PDV keep out of the way of?
    5. Head on with CBD.
    6. Head on with RAM dredger.
    7. TSS. Own vessel following lane, two vessels crossing one to port the other to stbd.
Asked me what the other two vessels would do?
    8. Narrow channel overtaking. (Interaction & passing) Wanted sound signals first.
    9. How long is a prolonged blast?
    Smartyboard
    1. PDV probably >50m.
    2. NUC stopped and making no way.
    3. Towing Astern RAM +200m, towing vessel <50m.
    4. Trawler. Stopped or at anchor.
    5. Sailing vessel <20m (combined lantern).
    6. F/V either seen from stern (or) +150m outlying gear.
    7. Pilot vessel underway probably making way.
    8. Vessel at anchor. Probably >50m.
    9. Vessel aground. Probably >50m.
    Buoyage
    1. Region A, port hand lateral.
    2. Region A, preferred channel to starboard.
    3. North cardinal.
    4. East cardinal.
    5. Isolated danger.
    6. Safe water mark. What is isophase? What is occulting?
    7. Special mark.
That is all I can remember, there were many more in the general section and had to
explain my actions and each rule in detail during the ROR situations.
Thanks to Vinyl and Shane for continued support and a special thanks to classmate Aman
for the after-class zoom meetings, which helped immensely.
